The GIFT Farming Model breeding program applies good farming practices

  • Suitable to be applied to all private farms in Malaysia
  • Optimised model to improve the economic yield of the farm
  • Incorporates good farming practices (improved genetics, balance diet, comfortable housing systems and proper equipments)
  • Produces 40 kg meat goat within a period of 5 to 7 months
  • Mortality rates is reduced to 1% in GIFT’s experiment on a crossbred of Boer and Dorper sheep
  • On further research, GIFT intends to develop the GIFT Farming Model for sheep
Farm Management System

Software application
  • Creating farming models based on ICT
  • Automates the task of herd recording, production, monitoring and daily management
  • Design specifically for use by farms producing dairy cattle and goat
  • Will be further developed to include modules to undertake genetic improvement activities
  • Foundation for the creation of a national herd database
